Tips for our children's mental health.

In The Universe of Children 0 comments

We've been thinking a lot about our children and their mental health during these days of quarantine.

“Mental health is more than the absence of mental illness.” Mental health is essential for overall health and well-being because “without mental health there is no health” (World Health Organization).

What do we do for our children's peace of mind? Do we, as adults, generate emotional peace for them? Significant changes (like the one we're experiencing now) can lead to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, hyperactivity, and more. That's why we wanted to write this post to remind you that children are full of energy, eager to conquer the world, jumping, shouting, exploring, running, painting... let's not deny it to them; on the contrary, let's live this stage of complete coexistence to get to know them better, give them lots of love, and tap into their creativity.

5 TIPS FOR OUR CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH:

1) Everything starts with coexistence, with healthy coexistence.
It's time to question whether differences with our partners or with the people we live with affect our children and how we can address them.
2) Teach and rebuke with love, taking into account reason.
If we replace hitting and yelling with words where we explain with love, respect, and understanding what's right and what's wrong, everything will flow more smoothly for them. No matter how many times we have to say it or explain it, they'll understand.
3) Schedules and routines for everything.
If we establish schedules for learning, eating, and entertainment for them and for us as parents, it will be easier to adapt and optimize our time.
4) Good communication... listening and taking their feelings, what they think, what they say and what they want very seriously, while being clear about the rules that we as adults have in our home.
5) Lots of love and patience, love is the key to everything that moves us.
Kindness and kind treatment of each other are the key!
